The negotiations regarding Japan's surrender were already well underway before Truman dropped the bomb, which some claim was more for Russia's benefit. The population was literally starving to death. I would say if anyone were responsible for single handedly ending the War in the Pacific it was the crew of the Enola Gay.īTW.how many of you remember that today, December 7th, is Pearl Harbor Day?
